Shivani Ma

Shivani Ma O'Brien is Co-Founder of SYAMA Sunrise Yoga and Meditation Academy in Australia.  She is a mother, Teacher Trainer and Massage Therapist with 25 years experience. With Japan as her base for over 11 years, Shivani trained and has taught thousands of students in Asia and Europe.

Drawing on her own healing experiences as a once severe asthmatic and chronic back pain sufferer, Shivani has expertise in pranayama (breathwork), manual lymph drainage, Hawaiian temple massage, pain therapy, reproductive health, Tantra, and embodied meditation. Currently training as a counselor, her areas of interest include how to effectively apply embodied mindfulness to sexology, grief, trauma, and relationships.

Shivani is known for her intuitive ability to fuse a variety of yoga, breathing, and massage techniques into one session to help clients ease pain and experience deep states of relaxation, pleasure and bliss.

She has presented keynotes at Seven Sisters Festival, Melbourne, Eros Festival, The Better Sex Festival, the Water & Peace Global Forum Japan, Soul Sessions Sydney, Yoga Fest Japan & Bali. Shivani leads annual teacher trainings and detox retreats and facilitates weekly tantra, mindfulness, meditation and yoga classes.

During this retreat she will show you the best techniques and tools she knows to propel self-healing, optimize your health and wake up feeling invigorated and passionately alive. We will focus on an exploration of the Chakras - the subtle energy anatomy of Yoga that helps the body and mind function optimally and invites more health and harmony into one's life.

Chaitanya Deva

Chai has a large following of devoted students and fellow yoga teachers. He is a special guest teacher on many Yoga Teacher Trainings around NZ. He specialises in applied anatomy (the anatomy of movement). The thousands of yoga teaching and study hours, alongside the 16+ years as a therapeutic/sports massage therapist, have built a broad and experiential knowledge base, which Chai loves to share. The main styles he teaches are Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Hatha and Meditation. We are thrilled to invite him back to co-host another retreat.

Bex Deva

Rebecca ('Bex') Deva was born to dance. "It fills me with loads of energy and helps me feel connected to the source," she explains. For the past two decades, Bex has made her livelihood doing things she loves and is a passionate Nia teacher plus yoga teacher at Kindred Studio. During this retreat Bex will be hosting a crystal bowl sound workshop plus a beach movement session one evening.

Massages

Chai will be offering massages/bodywork sessions available as an optional 'add-on at extra cost'. There will be limited slots available during the free time.

Vegetarian Cuisine

Meals will be served in ‘The Views’ vegetarian onsite restaurant. One evening we will enjoy a meal in the local village of Kaiteriteri.
